Robin Lord Smith has worked as a patient advocate since her HCV diagnosis and cure 18 years ago. In her role as NVHR Community Engagement Advisor, she helps foster and strengthen relationships with NVHR members such as community-based organizations and people with lived experience, to build community and advocacy capacity in alignment with NVHR’s mission to eliminate viral hepatitis. Previously, Robin was the Vice President of the Hepatitis C Association (HCA), where she provided hepatitis C education to patients at substance use disorder treatment programs for 16 years. She also served the Operations Manager and a Peer Support Counselor for HCA’s HELP-4-HEP, the national hepatitis C peer support helpline. Robin is a founding member of the Maryland Hepatitis Coalition and, after moving to Floyd, Virginia, she helped found the Virginia Hepatitis Coalition.
