Courtney Downs currently serves as the Viral Hepatitis Treatment Coordinator and Health Educator at Virginia Harm Reduction Coalition in Roanoke, VA; as well as, serving as the Co-Chair of the Virginia Hepatitis Coalition. Prior to her current position, she served as a permanent supportive housing case manager, EMT, and Registered Nurse. She is a person in long term recovery from Hepatitis C, chaotic IV substance use, homelessness, and trauma. She brings a wealth of lived experience that has enabled her to develop a cutting edge model of care that radically meets people where they are at and benefits a diverse participant population experiencing the same hardships and stigma that she transcended. Her journey from adversity to advocacy exemplifies resilience and compassion.
