As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we must band together to ensure that the programs serving our most vulnerable community members are supported, which is why we are reaching out to you to ask for your assistance. Right now, Members of Congress are working on the next phase of COVID-19 relief measures to ensure that Americans can access the healthcare they need to remain healthy. Many changes are being debated and NVHR is asking for 2 specific additions to all emergency COVID-19 legislation to support harm reduction programs:
- Funding to support public health programs that serve people who use drugs and vulnerable communities that have been directly impacted by the overdose epidemic
- Removal of the federal ban on the purchase of syringes
