Now more than ever, we must band together to ensure that the programs serving our community members who are actively engaging in substance use are supported, which is why we are reaching out to you to ask for your assistance. Right now, Members of Congress are deciding on the latest emergency legislative package to ensure that Americans can access the healthcare they need to remain healthy. Many changes are being debated and the Coalition for Syringe Access is asking for three specific additions to all emergency COVID-19 legislation:

  • Funding to support public health programs that serve people who use drugs and vulnerable communities that have been directly impacted by the overdose epidemic
  • Removal of the ban on the purchase of syringes
  • Elimination of restrictions on access to telehealth services for people living with viral hepatitis, HIV, and substance use disorder.

They will be voting on this immediately. Take action now: Ask Congress to support programs serving people who use drugs during the COVID-19 outbreak!
