The National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable (NVHR) is pleased to announce that Ryan Clary will join their staff as the Director of Programs. “We are thrilled that we have been able to attract to our organization a person with Mr. Clary’s capabilities, experience, and dedication to viral hepatitis advocacy,” said Martha Saly, NVHR’s Director. “Ryan Clary is well known and respected by viral hepatitis advocates around the country. In addition to serving for three years on the NVHR steering committee, he was a leader in establishing the San Francisco Mayor’s Hepatitis C Task Force, and works collaboratively with hepatitis B and hepatitis C advocates both in San Francisco and nationally to strengthen the collective voice of the viral hepatitis community.”

Mr. Clary comes to NVHR from Project Inform in San Francisco, where he has worked for seventeen years, serving as their Director of Public Policy since 2007. In this position, Mr Clary led Project Inform’s hepatitis C and HIV policy program. He has advocated at the national, state, and local levels for increased funding and legislation to expand health care and treatment for people living with viral hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, and other chronic illnesses, and has overseen grassroots organizing strategies to engage people with HIV and hepatitis in advocacy efforts. Mr Clary was the Community Organizing Manager at Project Inform from 1995 - 2007. Mr. Clary also served as the project manager for the California Hepatitis Alliance (CalHEP).

“I am excited to help NVHR meet its strategic goals as the Director of Programs,” Mr. Clary said. “I want to bring my experience in public policy and advocacy, community organizing, media relations, and project management to NVHR, so that this great organization can continue to expand its activities and scope of influence.”

Mr. Clary will assume his new role as NVHR’s Director of Programs in September, 2012. This is a new position at NVHR.
