June 15, 2020 – The National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable (NVHR) and the Hepatitis Education Project (HEP) today released the following statement on the Trump Administration rule that rolls back anti-discrimination protections for trangender patients:

“NVHR and HEP strongly oppose the recent Trump Administration rule that eliminates important anti-discrimination protections for transgender patients. The rule creates additional barriers to care for transgender individuals, which is especially harmful during a global pandemic. For too long, the trans community has been omitted from public health programs, including from the national hepatitis response, leading to exclusion from key recommendations and prevalence estimates. NVHR and HEP are committed to fighting the erasure of transgender individuals and will continue working towards greater health equity.”
