Congressional briefing on hepatitis B and C elimination

NVHR, AASLD, Hep B United, and NASTAD hosted a Congressional briefing on hepatitis B and C elimination on June 15, 2017. The briefing provided an overview of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's A National Strategy for the Elimination of Hepatitis B and C. It also highlighted the Strategy's recommendations specific to hepatitis B elimination and expansion of syringe services and other harm reduction programs.

Speakers included Dr. Jonathan Mermin, Director of the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention; Dr. John Ward, Director of the Division of Viral Hepatitis, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Dr. Anna Lok, President of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD); Binh Ly, Hepatitis B Patient Advocate; Sharon Billings, Hepatitis C Patient Advocate; and Dr. Stacey Trooskin, NVHR's Medical Advisor and the Director of Viral Hepatitis Programs, Philadelphia FIGHT Community Health Centers.
